Key Medicare Dates to Make a Note of Now

Starting in September, you will hear from your Medicare plan about any changes that are taking place within your coverage. Once you receive that information, you should be able to make a better decision on changing your coverage.

Make a Plan for Your Health

Fall is also a good time to check in with your health and get any vaccines you may need. A flu shot will be an important step this fall since the flu will likely be circulating with fewer people masking up.

The fall is a great time to get your health affairs in order and make sure you have the best Medicare coverage you can get. Compare plans today and get the perfect coverage for you at the right cost.

With the Medicare Open Enrollment Period approaching quickly, we wanted to make you aware of a few key dates:

Annual Notice of Change (September)

Private plans are required to send a notice each fall if there will be any changes in cost, coverage, or service area. These changes go into effect January of the coming year.

Open Enrollment Period (October 15 – December 7)

Medicare Advantage and Part D Prescription Drug plans begin accepting applications for the upcoming year. New plans go into effect January 1.

General Enrollment Period (January 1 – March 31)

If you did not enroll in Medicare you can sign up for Part B. Signing up through the GEP means you will have to pay a penalty.

Advantage Open Enrollment Period (January 1 – March 31)

You can switch to a different Medicare Advantage Plan or Original Medicare, with or without drug coverage. You can make changes only if you have a Medicare Advantage Plan.

Flu Season (November – April)

Medicare Part B covers 100 percent of the cost of a flu shot once every flu season with no Part B deductible required.

We hope this rundown of the key dates has been helpful. Please let us know if you have any questions.
